Sin was dealt with a couple thousand years ago. It is no longer an issue between us and God.
Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death. However, the big “but” in the same verse changes everything. First John 2:2 tells us Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world, not just believers.
Refusing the gift is what separates us from God. Our sin is not the factor anymore.
