We had a great time at Andrew Wommack’s ministers conference in England this week. We met some new folks and strengthened relationships with others we had met previously. Both Andrew Wommack and Bob Yandian ministered things we needed to hear.
The Promised Land
One of the things that Bob Yandian pointed out to us all was that the Promised Land in the Old Testament is actually not a type of Heaven as some folks teach.
Israel had to fight to take the promised land. There were giants in the promised land. They never completely cleared out their enemies from the promised land.
That’s not Heaven.
Instead the promised land was supposed to become a place of peace and security. It was the place they were to call home and where they would be able to partake in the blessings of God.
As such, the promised land is more a type of salvation in Jesus Christ than it is of Heaven.
Entering Scotland
We discussed this and many other things during the drive up from the conference with John Donnelly, our Scottish host. It rained the entire drive up through England.
Then as we approached the boarder to Scotland I put on my sunglasses and made some crack about needing to be ready for the sunshine in Scotland. I think I may have said that they were “prophetic” sunglasses.
Sure enough, as we crossed the border the clouds parted and the sun came out. So much so, that I got warm enough on the sunny side of the car to need to open my window a bit. 🙂
As I stepped out of the car when we got here I took the photo above and I heard God say, “Welcome to your promised land, Chris.”
